Veterinary Technician position
We are currently seeking an excellent part-time Vet Tech to join our team at our Specialty/ER Center in Farmingdale, NY. Candidates with experience in surgery as well as emergency care that currently hold their LVT are strongly desired though not required.
We are looking for a skilled person who is a quick learner and self-starter with strong computer and multi-tasking abilities with any strong attention to details. Must be a good team player interested in continuing to develop their career in veterinary medicine and able to handle stress well. If you want to provide your patient’s with great medical care while providing outstanding customer support, this is the place for you. Looking for candidate’s that expect as much from themselves as we will.
Duties and Expectations:
- Must have and maintain a current LVT or be actively pursuing it (documentation required)
- Ability to maintain an upbeat attitude even in stressful situations is essential
- Weekend and overnight shifts required.
- Outstanding customer service
- Maintaining medical records (DVMax)
- Tracking & providing treatments
- Supporting doctors
- Triaging ER Patients
- Answering phones
- Checking patients in and discharging
- Drawing up and dispensing meds as instructed by doctors
- Collecting fees
- Helping clients apply for CareCredit
- Reception Duties as needed
- On Call shifts
- Running In-House Labs
- Blood draws and catheter placement
- Holidays as needed
- Laundry and cleaning
- Feeding & walking patients
- Cleaning Kennels
- This part-time position is under 34 hours a week. The schedule can vary from 11-39 hours per week but in general would average 23-30 hours per week.
Educational/Experience Requirements: Must have LVT or actively pursuing a LVT at this time. Previous veterinary work of more than 2 years preferred and experienced with emergency care highly desired.
Schedule: Varies. Overnight and weekend shifts required.
Wages: Commensurate with abilities and experience. $14-$21 per hour
