Summary:
Safe procedure with many good results regardless of severity of dysplasia.

Pros:
Relatively simple
Few complications
Relatively inexpensive
Large percent of good results
Rarely have a patient that is not improved after surgery

Cons:
Not as very effective in very large dogs
Basically a salvage procedure
Higher range of good to fair results than excellent

Recomendations:
Can be done at any age
Good for severe dysplasia in young dogs where little coverage of femoral head
Femoral head and neck are removed; muscle is placed between the raw edges
