Just as your family doctor would refer you or a member of your family to a specialist when the need arises, your primary care veterinarian now has the ability to extend this service and care to your pet. The NYVSC works closely with your family veterinarian who has previously treated and intimately knows your pet. Together they form a partnership that greatly expands the diagnostic and surgical options available to your pet, returning them to health quickly and comfortably.

When your pet needs surgery:

After an initial physical examination your primary care veterinarian will discuss all your options with you. When necessary he/she will arrange a consultation with one of the many affiliated specialists with the NYVSC, who will perform the diagnostic and surgical procedures at their clinic or at your own veterinarian’s hospital. During the post-surgical period it is just as important to maintain this team effort between you, your veterinarian and the NYVSC Specialist. They will discuss the aftercare procedure with your pet’s veterinarian and you. It is imperative to follow these instructions because the aftercare is 50% of the healing process, allowing you and your pet to get back to your healthy and active lifestyle

I have been thinking about writing this note for a long time now but I have not been able to find the time. I apologize for that, because my thanks and deepest gratitude are long overdue. I started a new job at the end of October and unfortunately can not take the time off to come to your office and share my comments in person.

On November 5th, 2009 you operated on my mini-poodle Isabelle who came in with a dislocated hind leg. I wanted to share with you what a complete success the operation you performed has been. Isabelle recuperated very quickly and within three weeks she was walking normally. A few weeks later she was running around the house like her leg had never been dislocated. The ultimate joy for us has been watching her hopping in the yard chasing squirrels. Thanks to you she is back to normal 100%. Isabelle has resumed all her normal activities, jumping and running and uses her leg the same way she did before.
